Skin Forum - Nizoral allergic reaction ?? Conditions and Diseases Skin Forum Nizoral allergic reaction ?? About 2 weeks ago I broke out with a firey red swollen rash under both of my arms. I am 26 years old, workout 4-5 times a week, in good health. I am not over weight, and no family history of diabetes...I say this because I have read that underarm rashes are linked to these things. I have always had sensitive skin so I do not use products other than those I know will not upset my skin. Last Sat. I went to my doctor and he diagnosed this rash as a yeast/candida infection...prescribed me 10 days of nizoral oral, 200mg a day, and suggested OTC Lotrimin cream. I started taking the nizoral Sat. morning and continued without any visible improvement of the rash under my arms, then on X-Mas Eve (5 days into nizoral) I started breaking out with a rash on my chest. Since then it has spread from my cheast, down my arms, and down to my hands. The "new" rash consists of tiny raised bumps...the same rash that I get if I use a product that I am allergic to. I called my doctor's office today and they said to stick with the Nizoral and take some Benadryl for the allergic reaction. My husband and I are very worried because I am obviously not responding well to these meds and benadryl is not helping. I don't know what to do....has anyone else taken Nizoral and had bad effects? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
