Family, Internal Medicine, General Medical Questions: elderly diaper rash, nizoral cream, tinea crurisI am trained and boarded in Family Medicine and have also worked extensively in emergency medicine for over 10 years.My relative is having some problems and I thought I might be able to help by getting some information. He is an elderly male who wears diapers all day and night. Recently, he has developed diaper rash so his caregiver kept him off diapers and used some kind of cream (hydrocortisone? I don't know). The hope was that a dry environment would allow the rash to heal. The problem is he continues to scratch and the rash is bleeding now and he won't stop scratching. It will never heal at this rate. What can we do? Thanks.
