AND PROGRAF LEVEL

The Three Baylor Assassins Come together Only 5 ng/ml - 2/3 less than desired levels This is the Green Assassin, the other killer crafted at Baylor. During Pam's transplant, Baylor was tasked with maintaining adequate levels of the Anti-Rejection Drug "Prograf". Pam's main transplant doctor personally told us he desired to keep the blood levels of that drug at a level of 15 ng/ml. For a few days after Prograf administration was begun, the levels rose, but never to the level desired. Four days after starting the drug, the levels began to drop sharply, even though Baylor raised the dosage they were giving to Pam. One of the transplant doctors told us the pain medication Esgic-Plus was the cause of the decline, but they had delayed for many days in determining that was the reason. This meant they also delayed in removing the Esgic which seemed to halt the decline, an indication it was indeed the culprit. I assume the doctors felt that increasing the amount of the Prograf being given to Pam would also increase the amount in her blood, but in reality, removing the Esgic and the negative drug reaction it caused was the proper action. Yet Baylor failed to act promptly. Eventually Pam's Prograf dropped to less than 1/3 the desired level, affording very little protection to her during the exact same time when she also had liver damage and a strong emerging donor immune system. Care on Baylor's part would have eliminated two of the three assassins, and the third, the strong immune system, would have then been a blessing rather than a curse, that under the wrong circumstances, would lead to her death. So many things went so very wrong.
